Philosophy
Like many photographers today, I use a digital camera and digital post-processing techniques. Though many photographers use the freedom afforded by digital effects to create a scene that never actually existed, my aim in post-processing an image is to make it as close to the scene as possible at the moment I photographed it.
I do not believe there is anything wrong in creating a fantastic image from one's imagination (provided the image is not implied to depict a real scene, situation, or event), but my personal interest lies in trying to convey the feeling of the scene as I directly experienced it. A camera is an imperfect tool, so I also use digital processing techniques to remediate any imperfections necessarily introduced by photographic equipment in order to arrive at an image that is as close to technically perfect as I am able.
