Photographer Bio
Photographing Tioga Lake at Yosemite National Park
Originally from the suburbs of Chicago, I currently live and work in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Photography has always been in my family as long as I can remember. My father was a professional photographer many years ago and maintained a passion for photography many years afterwards, so I grew up watching him develop film in the family bathtub. I began studying photography in earnest when I was in high school, and I was an early adopter of digital photography in 2002.
I enjoy pushing the boundaries of what my digital equipment can do, and I often use a combination of optical and digital techniques in the creation of my photographs. I find that while digital post-processing allows me to more quickly realize a final image than film would, nearly all of the techniques that I use are possible with film as well. I do not disagree with the use of uniquely digital processes, but for my own work I find this approach to post-processing unnecessary. At least for the near future, it is the pursuit of capturing the moment I experienced and observed that drives me.
